Membership in the Ontario Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), is open to any woman 18 years old or older who can prove linear descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. A patriot includes not only military duty, but also encompasses civil and patriotic duty.

The headquarters of the NSDAR is located in a city block of Washington, D.C. and includes Memorial Continental Hall, Constitution Hall, and the Administration Building. There is a museum and genealogical library.
